thinking that: an addiction-prone personality is one that is very good at creating narrow justifications & avoiding personal responsibility.

good point. maybe that's why i never became seriously addicted to all the super-addictive drugs i've done copious amounts of... i'm not terribly good at those things... i mean, i can do them, but i don't fool myself for very long.

I can and do find myself making justifications and blame-shifting in the moment, but in the back of my mind, I know that I'm lying to myself and that I am ultimately responsible for my actions and decisions, whatever the circumstances may be. And that makes it a lot easier to stop once I decide to. I've

Not to minimize the serious chemical addictions people can develop by saying "it's all just in your mind". Just thinking about addictive/compulsive personality traits in general... whether that's addiction to sex, shopping, a drug, a person, etc...
