I can and do find myself making justifications and blame-shifting in the moment, but in the back of my mind, I know that I'm lying to myself and that I am ultimately responsible for my actions and decisions, whatever the circumstances may be. Not to minimize the serious chemical addictions people can develop by saying "it's all just in your mind". Just thinking about addictive/compulsive personality traits in general... whether that's addiction to sex, shopping, a drug, a person, etc...
