i think i'm canadian after all! my mom was one of the "lost children of canada," right? well, check this shit out!

by april of 2009, my mother's canadian citizenship, which she lost when her parents emigrated to the US when she was five years old, is going to be reinstated, retroactive to the time she lost it.

which means my mother was a canadian citizen at the time of my birth after all. which means that i am canadian too! maybe my homecoming party should be at smith instead, so we can have poutine.

(oh, and if anyone actually looks at those rules and notices that my mother and i are not interpreting them correctly, please let me know. i'd rather be disappointed now than next year.)

just talked to Cozeth on the phone for a while.

Talking about Portland and the people there still feels like talking about home. One of my friends is dating a lady I used to have a crush on; my ex-girlfriend is dating some guy on the other side of the country; so-and-so and so-and-so are working here, or there, and getting along, or not, and do you remember that place at that corner?

It hurts, a little. I miss the people, and the city; but also it's nice just to know that they're still there.

I'm very lonely here, is what I'm trying to say.

Despite the cooler temperatures, the bees were out in force today. What was interesting was that I saw four or five varieties where as I normally only see one or two, and I don't think I've ever seen the one in the first photo before. Anyone know what it is?
